Katy Jazz Festival 2022

Katy Jazz Festival 2022! I mixed and recorded the Festival concerts this past Saturday! Big-time thanks and appreciation to Mike Ary and Jon Cabot from Taylor HS, and three high school volunteers from Katy ISD's Miller Career Center. Junior high and high school jazz bands performed and then were joined on stage by professionals who worked with the students. Adjudicators were Dr. Utah Hamrick (Texas State University), Phillip Jones (Texas Southern University), and legendary Houston pianist Paul English. Those 3 talents also joined with guest Clinician, Walter White, for an impromptu performance and Q&A segment. The evening concerts opened with the Katy ISD All-Stars (Dennis Beaver, Dir.) and concluded with Clinician, Walter White, backed by the University of Houston Jazz Band (Noe Marmolejo, dir). To say they performed to an enthusiastic audience would be quite an understatement! Also, like to thank Damon Archer, Executive Director of Fine Arts Katy ISD, John Bertram, Bruce Melville, and all of the great directors. And.....congratulations to my private percussion students who performed Zach Matthews, Austin Guzman Nathan Nemic, and Olivia Atlee.
